How to wish someone a good / happy…
In English we have set expressions for certain, particular occasions:
Happy birthday!
Happy anniversary!
Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
Happy Mother’s / Father’s Day!
For wishes about good days, weeks, weekends, it is necessary to start with “Have a…”:
“Have a good day.”
“Have a nice week.”
“Have a lovely weekend.”
Note: “Have a” cannot be omitted.
Here are ways to combine the above:
“Happy birthday! Hope you have a great day!”
“Thanks for your message. Have a good week.”
“Happy anniversary! Hope you enjoy your day together.”
