Key English speaking concepts: received pronunciation (RP) and phonetics
Received pronunciation
RP is defined in the Concise Oxford Dictionary as “the standard accent of English as spoken in the south of England”. If you watch my English accent training videos, that describes how I speak – in received pronunciation.

Phonetics
Phonetics refers to writing a word the way that it is pronounced as opposed to the correct grammatical spelling. The adverb is that when terms are spelt phonetically. I will try to do this for some of the terms in my English accent training videos.
EXAMPLE
London: lun-dun
