Happy New Year and New Year’s resolutions

Very soon it will be 2013! It is time for me to wish everyone a very happy New Year. I hope that 2012 gave you everything you wished for, and that 2013 will do the same.

Something a lot of people do is make New Year’s resolutions. These are personal promises about things you are going to improve or do better in the next year.

Examples of New Year’s resolutions

It is very common for British people to say:

“My New Year’s resolution will be to drink less alcohol.”

We could use these ones:

“My New Year’s resolution is to post more English material online.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to study and practise to improve my English even more.”

Please read this article if you have time which is written by a British comedian and is full of British humour about his suggestion for what the British should make their main New Year’s resolution: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20836616

Do you make New Year’s resolutions in your country? Would you like to share any?

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BEST WISHES FOR 2013!
