Learn British English: tasty slang

Please read below for British slang relating to food.

Slang synonyms for “food”:

“Grub’s up!”

Nosh

Grub

Nommage

Nibbles

Munchies

“Nosh” and “munch” are verbs which can act as synonyms for “eat”.

“Delicious” is the adjective we use most to describe food we really like.

“Tasty” is a good one which doesn’t mean “delicious” necessarily, but that the food has a nice taste in a very positive way.

“Grub’s up” means “dinner is ready”.
