Bonfire night / Guy Fawkes night (5 November)

Tonight is a very popular but odd celebration in the UK, which remembers when a man called Guy Fawkes was caught trying to blow up parliament hundreds of years ago.

Every year on 5 November, people like to set off fireworks, make large bonfires and even burn effigies (models) of Guy Fawkes on them!

We call tonight Bonfire night or Guy Fawkes night.
