British English vs American English (1)

I guess everyone in this group who wants to learn English is from a different country. We call that “distance learning”. Particularly important for you to understand is the difference between the English spoken in Britain to that in America.

EXAMPLES

We say LIFT; Americans say ELEVATOR

We say TAP (the metal things you use to get water); they say FAUCET

I post this topic because if you watch alot of films and TV programmes from America, you will learn American English. It is not a problem, we can understand (NOT that fosset word though), but it is better to speak proper BRITISH English if you want to come to the UK, otherwise your language will seem strange, and some Brits might not like it.
